Paterson gas medium triaxial apparatus #9

This 'sister' Paterson apparatus has similar capabilities to #6. However, this apparatus is aimed at investigating the seismic properties of rocks by pulse transmission technique. The top and bottom enclosures are equipped with a set of interchangeable pistons fitted with internal P-wave and S-wave elastic wave transducers, allowing the measurements of elastic wave velocity, anisotropy and birefringence to high confining pressures and to temperatures to approximately 1300 °C.
